The Italian Embassy Cultural Centre is organizing two masterclasses with food historian Rita Monastero, who will bring her culinary expertise to showcase a series of recipes relating to the theme of wooden utensils in traditional Italian cuisine. The use of wooden tools for culinary purposes can be traced back to ancient times, witnessing their timeless appeal in everyday life.
Chef Monastero will share her deep knowledge of Italian cuisine with students of the International Institute of Culinary Arts & Indian School of Hospitality.
MASTERCLASS I: Italian hand-made bread, flower & water dough pasta, sour cherry and almond pie.
MASTERCLASS II: Polenta (coarsely ground cornmeal), Tuna fish pie, Baked cannoli with milk custard.
With over 20 years of experience, Rita Monastero is renowned for preserving traditional recipes while embracing modern sensibilities. A familiar face on Italian television and the author of 13 cookbooks, Chef Monastero’s visit promises an authentic exploration of Italy’s gastronomic heritage, blending time-honoured traditions with innovation.
