The Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in collaboration with KNMA is pleased to invite you to a special talk on Caravaggio and his masterpieces with art historian Giulia Silvia Ghia.
Inside Caravaggio offers an in-depth journey into the life, art, and enduring impact of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. The program traces his dramatic biography, from his early years in Milan to his rise in Rome, and explores how his groundbreaking naturalism and psychological insight reshaped 17th-century painting. Drawing parallels with cultural revolutionaries like Picasso and Dylan, the lecture presents Caravaggio as a visionary who redefined art through his raw, human-centered approach.
The session also unveils the technical mastery behind his works—highlighting his use of recycled materials, innovative methods, and dramatic lighting. Through diagnostic studies, participants discover hidden layers and learn how restoration and time have shaped the way we see his masterpieces today. This program invites audiences to experience Caravaggio both as a genius artist and as a complex, tormented figure whose influence remains powerfully relevant.
