Giampaolo Simi was born in 1965 in Viareggio, on the north coast of Tuscany. His latest books are Rosa elettrica and La notte alle mie spalle. His novels are published in France in the Gallimard’s Série Noire and by Sonatine, and in Germany by Bertelsmann. With his short tale Luce del Nord he participated in the most important italian crime anthology, Crimini italiani.
He writes screenplays for tv crime-fiction series like Ispettore Coliandro, Crimini and Ris. His first tv film as a scriptwriter, Luce del Nord (adapted from the foresaid tale and shot by acclaimed director Stefano Sollima), has been selected amongst the best works of 2010 in the european section of the Fiction Festival de La Rochelle. He’s now working with Vittorio Testa and Francesco Amato on a new series for RAI 1 (italian public broadcast company).
He collaborates with newspapers and websites as critic and journalist. Recently he wrote two short tales for Artnews, cultural weekly magazine of RAI .
His last novel Cosa resta di noi (Sellerio) came out in 2015 and won the Scerbanenco Prize, the most important national award for noir novels.
