A THEATRE BETWEEN TWO WORLDS

HmPmrBI2kRIL

The Teatro tascabile di Bergamo – Accademia delle Forme Sceniche (Italy) will present a lecture-demonstration on the techniques developed throughout its artistic career, its history, and its relationship with Indian dance-theatre.

TTB was founded in 1973 by Renzo Vescovi and a group of young actors, following the path of the laboratory-theatres of the second half of 20th century in Europe.

Since 1978, the actors of the Group have continuously studied and practiced, from one generation to the next, various disciplines of classical Indian dance-theatre:

“Ours has not been a journey free from doubts and difficulties. We have travelled this path day after day, continually discovering new riches in Indian theatre that called for further exploration, and in doing so we have scarcely noticed the passing of time. Today we are a theatre inhabiting two worlds: the one in which we were born — Western theatre, group theatre, experimental theatre — and the other, India, in some ways distant, in others more familiar to us than the streets of Bergamo.”

Admission: First come First served basis.
