DELHI: CITY UNCLAIMED, talk by GIGI SCARIA

The Italian Embassy Cultural Centre presents the first in the series of talks and activities organized by Future Collaborations, a collaborative curatorial project curated by Premjish. The title of the talk is also the name of Gigi Scaria’s large photographic collage installed at Smart Museum, Chicago, USA, which deals with the eccentricities nurtured and watered in a typical urban setting of India largely created and running through the migrant population and its constant ‘pilgrimage’. Navigating through a set of questions such as: how we own a city, which part of it is claimed by us and what are the criteria of owning a city, Gigi’s talk addresses the crucial issue of ownership when a ‘pure urban space’ claims the possession of an individual.
