On the occasion of Dantedi` celebrated on March 25th, the IIC will be hosting a special reading of Dante’s Divine Comedy by Franco Ricordi, with the English reading being performed by Santanu Bose. The performance will centre on the representation of love, understood in a carnal, philosophical, and divine sense.
Franco Ricordi
Franco Ricordi, actor and theatre director, is also a philosopher and essayist. In the last few years, he has dedicated his philosophical reflection and his activity as an actor to Dante. In 2016, he made his debut with
Dante for Rome in the Roman archaeological sites, an experience that continued in 2020 with Dante’s Comedy at the Baths of Caracalla . In this context, he is also the author of the first philosophical reading of the Comedy, containing research in three volumes, recently published by Mimesis. He will also be doing a tour of India, China & Kazakhstan.
Santanu Bose
Santanu Bose is an Indian-theatre director and drama teacher. He is the dean of the academic affairs and associate professor, World Drama of National School of Drama, (NSD) New Delhi. Bose studied comparative literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1992. He started his theatre career with an apprenticeship under Tripti Mitra. He further studied design and direction at National School of Drama, New Delhi in 1992–1995. In 1996, he was awarded Charles Wallace Fellowship and went on to study acting at Drama Studio London. There he acted in the play Our Man with an international cast under the direction of Peter Layton.
