Widely-acclaimed Italian soprano and actress, Katia Ricciarelli will be curating the program “Mozart & the Italian Opera: A Musical Journey through Lorenzo Da Ponte’s Libretti” with the singers of Neemrana Music Foundation, in the distinguished halls of Lotus Temple, New Delhi.
Katia Ricciarelli:
Soprano and actress Katia Ricciarelli, born in Rovigo, studied at the B. Marcello Conservatory in Venice with I. Adami-Corradetti, graduating in singing in 1969. Her operatic debut at La Scala dates back to 1973. From that year onwards a chain of large foreign stages: Covent Garden in London in 1974 for Bohème, the Metropolitan in New York (Bohème in 1975), Paris, Brussels and San Francisco. More recently, Ricciarelli has accompanied her favorite Verdi roles with numerous Rossini interpretations, many of which at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. Today he has numerous recordings and some film-operas to his credit (Othello by F. Zeffirelli, filmed in 1986 alongside P. Domingo). He sang under the baton of conductors such as H. v. Karajan, C.M. Giulini, C. Kleiber, C. Abbado, R. Muti, L. Maazel, and had as partners, among others, Carreras, Domingo and L. Pavarotti.
