Olga, content and happy, is suddenly abandoned by her husband. And this abandonement sends her plunging into the depths of a relentless vortex. She faces moments when violent feelings and emotions tear her apart, when the realization thet she is unloved becomes like the unbreathable air of a suffocating cloud. She stops eating, she is stunned and dazed and an implacable presence-absence seems to fix itself somewhere in the corner of her mind, leaping out at her with the archaic, primitive fear of a tracked animal.
