Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in collaboration with DIVA Cafe’ is celebrating “Pizza Napoletana”, a three day food festival at Italian Embassy Cultural Centre

An exploration of the different types of Neapolitan pizzas, organized by the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre in collaboration with Diva Café and the pizza chef Peppe Pinto.

Pizza from the city of Naples is famous around the world for its soft crust, simplicity of ingredients and its signature cornicione or raised edge. The art of the pizzaiulo or pizza chef is delicate, measured and performative, requiring intensive training and patience, so much so that in 2017 UNESCO recognized it as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and January 17th is observed as the International Day of the Pizza Napoletana.

In collaboration with Diva Café, the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre is organizing a three-day food festival from 17th to 19th January centred on the pizza napoletana. Pizzaiulo Peppe Pinto will fly in from Italy and work together with the chef of Diva Café to present an offering of different pizza varieties including calzone, ‘pizza a portafoglio’ (pizza on the go), ‘pizza fritta’ (fried pizza) and the Roman-style ‘pizza alla pala’ (pan pizza).
