The Long Night of Literatures 2025 is a vibrant evening of readings, encounters and cultural exchange, bringing together authors from across Europe and India in an intimate “speed-dating” style literary format. Organized by the EUNIC India in collaboration with partner cultural institutes, the event will take place in New Delhi on Friday, 21st November at India Habitat Centre.
The Italian Embassy Cultural Centre will participate with the author Clara Nubile.
Clara Nubile (1974). A writer and literary translator, she has been translating mainly literature from English into Italian for 25 years. Her translations include: Life of Pi by Yann Martel, Hotel Everest by Allan Sealy, The City of Saffron by Gyan Prakash, I Follow You by Sheena Patel, The Restless Years by Devika Rege, and the works of Parahamsa Yogananda. She has lived for a long time in Bombay, which she calls home, and has traveled extensively throughout India.
Some of her works are set in India, such as Trascuranze (2022, BesaMuci), her latest novel which will be presented at the LNOL, and the short story collection Le febbri (2017, BesaMuci). She has published several novels—Io tiattacco nel sangue (2004, Fazi), Lupo (2007, Fazi), Tu come tutto quello che tocchi (2012, Bompiani), short story collections such as Tabaccherie orientali (2010, Giulio Perrone), two poetry collections: Squame (2014, LietoColle) and Gli imperfetti (2019, BesaMuci), as well as several contributions to national anthologies. She has also published an essay, The Danger of Gender (2003, Sarup & Sons), the result of her research project at the University of Mumbai on gender, caste, class, and women’s writing in India. Lupo, set in Southern Italy and deeply imbued with magical realism and local traditions, was also translated into French in 2023 and published by Ada Parme.
She believes in words, in building bridges between cultures and communities, and in the unity of the human heart.
