From 14 to 20 October 2024, under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic,
the XXIV Week of the Italian Language in the World (SLIM) will take place, the main
review for the promotion of our language on a global scale, organized annually by the
Diplomatic-consular Network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in conjunction with the traditional
partners of linguistic promotion (MIM, MUR, MiC, Swiss Embassy, Accademia della
Crusca, Cepell, CGIE, Comunità Radiotelevisiva Italofona, RAI, Società Dante Alighieri and
Treccani).
In a crucial year for the international projection of Italian publishing – marked by
Italy’s participation as Guest of Honor at the International Book Fairs of
Tunis (19-28 April), Warsaw (23-26 May) and Frankfurt (16-20 October) – SLIM will be
dedicated to the theme “Italian and books: the world between the lines”. By enhancing, on the one hand,
the role of books as a privileged vehicle of our linguistic, cultural and
value heritage and, on the other, the vitality of the national publishing sector (the country’s leading creative industry with an annual turnover of over 3.3 billion euros).
PRESENTATION EVENT OF THE WEEK
