The Italian Cultural Centre is delighted to partner with Ishara International Puppet Theatre Festival as the festival focuses on Italy’s rich contributions to the world of puppetry.
The tradition of puppetry dates back to the time of Ancient Rome and has since then greatly influenced the world’s stage. The contemporary puppet theatre scene in Italy today is even more vibrant and includes many new forms of theatre – from mixed media to street performances.
The Italian Cultural Centre brings three compelling & dynamic Italian puppet theatre companies to Indian shores for the first time. Each performer is from a different geographical region of Italy & present different styles of puppetry.
From Apulia, Pantaleo Annese brings to life Italy’s well loved & enchanting Guarratelle puppets like Pulcinella and pays playful homage to Neapolitan culture. From Emilia-Romagna, you’ll want to tap your feet and sing along at the once of a kind Italian cabaret and inventive jukebox mixed puppet performance of Trukitrek Theatre. The final theatre company, La Fabiola, is a talented duo from Piedmont, who together combines street performances with the marionette puppetry in a poetic musical show.
