International Jazz Day- BEING HUMAN

IG (2)

Being Human is a musical project that embodies the meeting of different cultures and sensibilities, bringing together double bassist Michelangelo Scandroglio, guitarist Mindaugas Stumbras, pianist Fergus Mccreadie, and drummer Mattia Galeotti. The repertoire is born from the creativity of all band members, combining original compositions with pieces from folk traditions. Particularly significant are the influences of Tuscan music, paying homage to the roots of two of the members. The concert is an intense and dynamic sonic journey, where improvisation and the interplay between musicians remain at the heart of the experience.

Michelangelo Scandroglio is a renowned double bassist and composer who has received numerous awards for his exceptional talent. Recently, he was selected for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Scandroglio is widely recognized for his significant contributions to the Italian jazz scene, and his upcoming album Gently Broken is highly anticipated.

Among his many accolades, Scandroglio was one of the winners of the Riga International Jazz Award and the Tomorrow’s Jazz Award by Veneto Jazz for Best Italian Talent. In 2019, he won first prize at the Conad Jazz Contest of Umbria Jazz, awarded by the legendary Paolo Fresu.

Scandroglio was also recognized as the second-best emerging talent in the Top Jazz 2020 rankings and emerged as the winner of the Getxo International Jazz Competition 2021 in Bilbao. These achievements highlight Scandroglio’s extraordinary musical abilities and place him among the most promising jazz musicians of his generation.
