Mi chiamo Maya (My name is Maya) is the story of Niki, a sixteen year old, who, after the sudden death of her mother Lena, flees the family home that houses her to go and live with the social worker Cecilia Fornari, carrying her little sister Alice with her. It will be a journey in search of freedom through known and unknown Roman worlds and in the balance between highs and rebellion, punctuated by meetings with different people of which the director tells true stories collected by the screenwriter Massimo Bavastro: the unconventional Cubist Sara, the spoiled Elizabeth, the street artist Marc Bresson and punk Bea. An “initiatory journey” which, with great difficulty, will carry Niki and Alice towards a new life.
