DELHI: LEZIONI DI VOLO – Flying Lessons – Drama – 2004

Cinema at the Institute: Incontri in Biblioteca: Contemporary Italian

In Italian, with subtitles in English

Chicken (Pollo) and Curry are two school friends; people have named them so because they are always together. After having failed in the graduation examination, they forge that Curry (an adopted Indian boy) is having an identity crisis and needs to go to India (along with his inseparable friend) to discover his roots (and hence avoid the reprisals of their families). The plan succeeds. The two depart for India, but the trip does not go according to what they had in mind. Chicken falls in love with a doctor much older than him and who works for Médecins Sans Frontières. Curry discovers India, first with a backlash and then is left fascinated, forever.
