Cinema at the Institute: Incontri in Biblioteca: 1st Italian Cuisine Week in the World
In Italian with subtitles in English
Between 1947 and 1952, at the end of the Second World War, Italy was devastated and minors were in one of the most painful conditions, especially in the South. Thousands of worker families of the North, inspired by a new awareness and hope in the reconstruction of the country, open their homes to children from the most affected and miserable areas of the South. The initiative soon becomes a national movement that proposes a concept of solidarity and careful assistance to get concrete solutions to the most urgent problems, often substituting the absence of institutions. Some of the protagonists of that time remember with their children’s eyes this special experience, creating an emotional short circuit between childhood and old age.
