The ADFF:STIR Mumbai brings together architecture, design, and film in a dynamic, multidisciplinary festival hosted at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai. Featuring curated film screenings, live conversations, installations, and immersive experiences, the festival offers a platform for creative dialogue across disciplines, engaging both industry professionals and the wider public in exploring how design shapes culture and the built environment. Italy will be represented at the Festival with two films: Architecton (2025) by Victor Kossakovsky & We the Others (2025) by Maria Cristina and Francesca Molteni. The director of the IIC New Delhi, Andrea Anastasio, will conduct the epilogue for both films.
Architecton (2025)
Kossakovsky presents a poetic meditation on architecture and how the design and construction of buildings from the ancient past reveal our destruction – and offer hope for survival and a way forward. He reflects on the rise and fall of civilizations while focusing on a landscape project by the Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, using imagery from the temple ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon, dating back to AD 60, to the recent destruction of cities in Turkey following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in early 2023.
We The Others (2025)
We The Others explores the work and lives of Fernando and Humberto Campana, the celebrated Brazilian design duo whose groundbreaking practice has shaped contemporary design for over four decades. Through interviews and the voice of Humberto, the film offers an intimate portrait of their creative journey, showcasing iconic works alongside their deep commitment to social impact through the Instituto Campana in Brotas. Centered on people, materials, and creativity, the documentary highlights design as a powerful force for positive change and positions the Campana Brothers as true mavericks of the discipline.
