The Italian Embassy Cultural Centre is thrilled to invite you to a special panel discussion with acclaimed author Jhumpa Lahiri.

Jhumpa Lahiri will join us for a wide-ranging conversation on the experience of learning and writing in another language, her life in Rome, Italian literature, and the critical questions that shape how we study and interpret literary works.

Lahiri is an American author, translator, and professor of English at Barnard College whose work spans fiction, essays, memoir, and translation. She is best known for Interpreter of Maladies, which won the Pulitzer Prize, as well as The NamesakeUnaccustomed Earth, and The Lowland, and has received numerous honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the National Humanities Medal. In recent years she has chosen to write primarily in Italian, producing works such as In altre parole (In Other Words)Il vestito dei libri (The Clothing of Books)Dove mi trovo (Where I am), and Racconti romani (Roman Stories).

Drawing on her unique career across languages and traditions, she will offer insights into the methods, challenges, and rewards of reading, teaching, and studying literature across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

The event will be followed by a book signing by the author.
