SLIM (Italian Language Week in the World) 2025 | ITALOFONIA

The 25th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, held annually in the third week of October and launched by the Honorable Minister Tajani on October 3, will take place from October 13 to 19. This year’s edition is titled “ITALOPHONIA: LANGUAGE BEYOND BORDERS,” in anticipation of the First International Conference of Italian Languages ​​in Rome on November 19. This conference, at the instigation of the Honorable Minister, will aim to establish a true Italian Language Community.

In this context, the theme of this year’s SLIM is to celebrate the linguistic, cultural, and social space of Italian, imagining a new community of people around the world united by a passion for our language and, through it, by their closeness to our country.

PROGRAMME

  • November 11th, at the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre, New Delhi , public lecture/conference led by writer and translator Clara Nubile on Italian words that have entered everyday language in India.
  • From November 16th to 18th, the writer will be in Calcutta, where she will give a reading, meet with university students, and participate in the Long Night of Literature (in collaboration with the Alliance Francaise and the Goethe Institute).
  • November 20th, the writer will speak at Delhi University on topics related to translation and will conclude the series of meetings with the Indian public.
  • November 21st, at the India Habitat Centre, on the occasion of the Long Night of European Literature, with a reading of her latest novel.
  • October 29th to November 7th, Italian Embassy Cultural Centre, New Delhi with Prof. Poletto is organizing an event in collaboration with Jamia Millia Islamia, on the occasion of the anniversary of the University’s foundation.
