Saimir, a sixteen year old Albanian immigrant in Italy, lives in a suburb off the coast of Lazio, where his father Edmond runs a small business of bringing illegal immigrants to Italy. The boy wants to mix up with Italian peers, but is rejected by everyone; he therefore  inds solace only in a group of Romans who introduce him to petty crime. One day, Saimir discovers that Edmond is involved in pimping a minor and tries to save her, bringing upon himself the wrath of his father’s accomplices. Despite the intervention of the parent, Saimir undergoes an exemplary punishment that triggers a fierce rage in him which will lead to a dramatic climax.

Saimir received five nominations for the Nastri d’argento in 2006, winning the award for best new director, and two at the David di Donatello 2006. It was also nominated at the European Film Awards for best discovery of the year – Prix Fassbinder.
